About ShitResume
ShitResume is a free resume builder that runs in your browser. There is no account, no upload and no server holding your resume. This page explains who is behind it, why it costs nothing, and how the site's guides are written and checked.

What this is
ShitResume is a resume editor that runs as a web page. Open the builder and the app loads into your browser, where the resume is written, laid out and exported. Nothing about the document is sent to a server we operate: there is no account to create, and no copy of your resume exists on our side.
Around the builder sits a set of free pages — resume guides by role with worked examples, an ATS check, and template previews. They exist for the same reason as the builder: to help you send a resume that is worth reading.
Why it is free
There is no subscription, no trial, no export fee and no paid template. The reason is structural rather than generous: the app runs on your device, so one more user costs about as much as one more page view, and there are no accounts, payments or stored documents to support.
The optional AI features work differently. They call a model provider directly from your browser using a key you supply, and that provider bills you if it bills at all. ShitResume is not in the middle of that request and takes no cut of it.
How your data is handled
Resumes live in your browser's IndexedDB, and the PDF, DOCX and JSON exports are generated on your device. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is stored and what the AI features send, and it is short because there is little to describe.
Who maintains it
ShitResume is maintained by one independent developer, techreone on GitHub. It is a small project rather than a company: there is no support team and no sales department.
The editor is built on an open-source, MIT-licensed resume application; the copyright notices that licence requires ship with the app at third-party notices. The ShitResume layer — brand, content and search work — is maintained privately at the moment.
How the guides are written
- Each guide starts from a role and a real search question, then from primary material: job postings for that role, applicant-tracking and formatting documentation, and published recruiter guidance.
- Figures and claims are checked against at least two independent sources where possible. When sources disagree, the page says so instead of picking the more flattering number.
- No page claims a certification, an award or an affiliation the project does not have, and no page promises an interview or a job.
- Every page carries the date it was last reviewed. When a claim, template or export changes, the page is re-checked and that date moves with it.
What the build checks
The site is generated as static files, and the build refuses to publish a page that is too thin, that repeats another page's title or description, that contains broken structured data, or that links to a URL which does not exist. It is a floor, not a substitute for editing, but it catches the mistakes that are easy to miss by hand.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, email hello@shitresume.com with the page and the sentence. Corrections are made in the page itself and the last-reviewed date changes; there is no separate changelog to dig through.
